    The seemingly never-ending case against former Egyptian president Hosni Mubarak took its latest twist on Wednesday, when a judge ruled that he could be released pending further investigation into corruption charges against him.

    Observers say Mubarak cannot be held any longer for legal reasons but given the country's state of emergency it could be difficult to predict what the final outcome could be.
