Greece's new EDT public broadcaster has gone on air, more than two months after the government closed down the previous state channel, ERT.

The closure of ERT left 2,700 people out of work.

The government said that ERT was too expensive as Greece experiences near economic meltdown.

Unions at ERT say they will continue programming via the Internet.
