Welcome to the first episode of Healthnutts TELEVISION. In this episode we are going to be comparing almond flour to your typical bleached flour. Although they may look comparable they are very different when it comes to nutritional value.

Lets start with calories: Almond flour has 160 calories and bleached has 114. While this is a lower count. They are very empty calories without much nourishment.

Next up is fat content: Almond flour has 14 grams of fat while bleached flour has.31 grams. While, almond flour does have more fat it's vital to note that practically all of the fat in almond flour is monounsaturated so it is the "good" fat that raises your good cholesterol and lowers the bad.

Then you have protein: Almond flour has 6 grams compared to all bleached which has 3 grams. This means when you cook with almond flour you are getting double the protein which is very beneficial to you!

Next is carbohydrates: Almond flour only has 6 grams compared to bleached white flour which has 23!! That is a lot of carbohydrates per serving. We have way too many carbohydrates in our diet and bleached flour is among the main reasons. If you are aiming to minimize your carb consumption switching over to almond flour is a wonderful means for doing so.

Almond flour also has 3 times the fiber as bleached flour and almond flour is naturally gluten free. Wheat flour is NOT gluten free. There are numerous advantages to a gluten free diet and we will cover those in a later episode.

Stay tuned for many more videos to come. Most of which will happen in the Healthnutts kitchen where I will teach you the best ways to make delicious dishes with almond flour.
