A veterinarian in Taipei was able to save a dog named Benji rather than euthanize it, and the dog's family is mad.

When Benji fell ill, his owner, an Australian government representative, reportedly had an employee take the dog to the vet.

The owner is alleging that the vet reported the damage had been extensive and there was no hope for rehabilitation.

After talking it over with his family, the dog owner said they decided to put the dog to sleep, and arranged for it to be returned to the vet’s office with a check for the procedure.

But rather than ending the dog’s life, the vet treated it, and a few weeks later Benji escaped from the vet’s house.

Benji ended up at a shelter and was subsequently returned to the dog’s owners.

They’ve since filed fraud charges against the vet.

The vet has stated that he never advised the dog be put down. He said he took payment for the euthanization in the event it became the only remaining option.
