It is bad enough when self-centered thieves break into your home or car, and leave you feeling violated. To add insult to injury, a Calgary mother was forced to grieve again as car thieves broke into her truck, along with several other cars, and callously stole her daughter’s ashes and jacket.

Colleen Ransom’s 19-year-old daughter Emma was killed 4 years ago in a car crash. Since then, she has carried Emma’s light green jacket and ashes with her everywhere. The ashes were in a pouch made of green velvet.

Colleen said, “Anybody who has lost someone knows how precious it can be. They were the only things I have left of my daughter and I like her to come with me wherever I go.”

Police found the empty bag in the road and the ashes in a pile on the sidewalk, but it had rained. Colleen said, “It was wet, we couldn’t scoop them, but I got a few anyways.”

Police are searching for 3 Caucasian teen girls seen in the area of 10th Street and Wapta Rise S.E. on August 2nd. Each is petite in stature, around 100 pounds and around 5 feet tall.
