In recent news, at least 3 confirmed and up to 46 individuals may have fallen victim to having their credit card information stolen by a Kissimmee, Florida couple.

32-year-old Christy Meleah Poppleton worked as a telemarketer for a company dealing in timeshares and kept customers’ credit card information. Her boyfriend, 38-year-old James Robert Rowland, was in prison. Poppleton then used the stolen information to add funds to Rowland’s commissary account as well as the accounts of other inmates.

Corrections officers alerted detectives who looked into the commissary purchases and accounts further. Police have charged both Poppleton and Rowland with two counts of credit card fraud. They also may face more charges.
