Brazilian businesswoman Roberta Medina, the person behind Rock in Rio, announced that the event would be returning to Portugal in May 2014 at a press conference in Rio de Janeiro. The festival, born in 1985, will be celebrating the 10th anniversary of its Portuguese edition. Even though the crisis in Europe could be seen as a deterrent, Medina is confident, seeing as, according to her, the entertainment industry works well in Portugal, with Lisbon constantly hosting more and more concerts and cultural events.
The organization also presented "Rock Street" to promote its Rio de Janeiro festival. The street pays homage to British musicians and is 150 metres long.
When asked about the Spanish version of the event, Medina claimed that it was not yet confirmed due to Madrid having a "more delicate economic situation".
