Fresh off The Dark Knight trilogy, Christopher Nolan's next project is officially underway as "Interstellar" has begun principal photography in Canada. The film, written by Christopher Nolan and Jonathan Nolan, will follow the story of a star-studded cast of explorers as they discover a wormhole and travel through space. The script is based on a treatment by physicist Kip Thorne, let me nerd out a little bit so I can explain to you why this is awesome. Kip Thorne was one of the first scientists to do research on whether the laws of physics actually permit space and time to be simply connected. This is important because his research explores the question, is time travel actually possible in both directions or even to multiple universes? Concepts that would basically blow Robert Zemeckis' mind...Now, to make a very long story short, Thorne and a team of other scientists discovered how to convert a wormhole traversing space into one traversing time. But due to general relativity, he also learned it's not possible to use a wormhole to travel back to a time before the wormhole was converted into a "time machine" or at least by means we usually see in genre films or popular movies that depict time travel. Are you still with me? Little is known about "Interstellar's" plot details but judging from Kip Thorne's involvement and consulting on the script, I think we're in for a very cool, and very different look at what we know or think we know about time travel. I mean, this guy is friends with Stephen Hawking. Tell me this isn't going to be awesome. On top of that, we I just say that this cast is stacked? "Interstellar" will feature some of Hollywood's biggest names including, Anne Hathaway, Jessica Chastain, John Lithgow, Michael Caine, Casey Affleck, and Matthew McConaughey. Have I given you enough reasons to be excited for this film yet? Leave a comment and tell me what you think. Interstellar" is set to hit theaters in November of 2014.
Could this be our generation's "2001: A Space Odyssey?" I'm Erin Darling, thanks for watching Clevver Movies.
