    England closed on 37 for three after being set 332 to win, Australia declaring overnight on 172 for seven but just 20.3 overs of play were possible.

    With England 2-0 up following wins by 14 and 347 runs at Trent Bridge and Lord's respectively, they are in an unassailable position and as holders of the Ashes, they retain the urn.

    Highlights of the game, another fine exhibition of Ashes cricket, included Michael Clarke hitting 187 in the first innings, Kevin Pietersen replying with 113 and then David Warner hitting 41 only to be caught out by - who else - Joe Root late on the fourth day.
