Thousands of people converge on the Cairo suburb of Nasr City swelling the ranks of those demanding the return to office of ousted President Muhamed Morsi.

Men, women, young and old, headed a call by the so-called "Anti-Coup Alliance" to mark the 27th night of the month of Ramadan - widely believed to be the holiest evening in the year for Muslims - by heading for the sit-in site that has become a symbol of opposition to Egypt's military generals and the interim government.

Al Jazeera's Jamal Elshayyal reports from Nasr City.
