A mother in Oklahoma is in jail, accused of using gasoline to treat her child’s head lice.

A mother in Oklahoma is in jail, accused of using gasoline to treat her child’s head lice. 25-year-old Shana Suggs is now facing a charge of felony child abuse by injury.

The disturbing incident reportedly occurred in January of this year. According to an affidavit, after Suggs allegedly put gasoline on the little girl’s head, a space heater that was placed close by ignited the fluid and burned the 5-year-old child.

Suggs’ boyfriend, Dylan Webster immediately tried to put the flames out. He was able to grab a jacket and tackle the fire.

The couple dropped off the other four children that were in the home at the time of the incident at relatives’ houses before taking the little girl to the hospital. Upon arrival, medical staff contacted police.

The child encountered second- and third-degree burns over 60 percent of her body. If convicted, Shuggs could receive a life sentence.

Her daughter has since been released from the hospital and she is now in the custody of the Department of Human Services.
