Walt Disney Studios is bringing a new novel adaption to the big screen, and we have the details. Development has begun on Disney's best-selling children's fiction series called Artemis Fowl. The movie will be a live-action adventure based on the first and second installments of the book which follows a 12 year old millionaire named Artemis who also just happens to be a genius. Lucky kid, right? Well, not exactly. In an effort to help find his missing father, and ease his worried mother's mind, Artemis kidnaps a leprechaun fairy to use its powers to help him, but realizes that he's in a fairy world of trouble. Hollywood powerhouse Harvey Weinstein will be on board to produce. Weinstein is no stranger to fantasy themed novel adaptations, after all he produced the super successful Lord Of The Rings trilogy. But, he is actually surprised that he's reached a point in his career when he is producing Disney movies. He said quote "If you would have told me five years ago I would be producing a project with Disney I would have thought you were crazy. This is a special project for me because my children absolutely love this book. This story is for everyone and there is no one better than Disney to make a film that will excite people young and old." Weinstein went on to say that he was excited to be reuniting with The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey producer, Alan Horn. The two worked together previously on several films that have included The Aviator, Starsky and Hutch, and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Artemis Fowl has a huge fan following and more than 21 million copies have been sold, but does it sound like something you all will want to see on the big screen?
