Prison life is certainly not easy in any way.

A disturbing incident recently occurred at the Pinellas County Jail involving a fatality by, of all things, toilet paper.

Deputies responded to a call at the prison and found a 48-year-old man, later identified as Kelly Damon Harding, lying unconscious on the floor of his cell. Harding was transported to a hospital where he was officially declared dead.

An emergency room doctor discovered there was wet toilet paper in the victim’s throat. According to the sheriff’s department, injuries consistent with strangulation were also found on Harding’s body.

The victim’s cellmate has been charged with the murder of Harding, accused of strangling him and stuffing the toilet paper down his throat. 28-year-old Scott Alexander Greenberg and Harding had been placed in a cell together several hours before the crime.

Gurgling and pounding sounds were later heard coming from the cell before Greenberg alerted authorities that a man was down.

It is believed Greenberg never met Harding prior to the fateful night. He has now been charged with first-degree murder.
