Sony Playstation's single biggest gaming franchise is getting adapted for the big screen. I am, of course, talking about their popular racecar property, Gran Turismo. Sony has decided to follow in the footsteps of its studio competitors and are starting development on their own "fast car" action franchise with Fifty Shades of Grey producers Mike De Luca and Dana Brunetti on board to produce. This is all according to The Wrap. Created by Kazunori Yamauchi, Gran Turismo has a huge built in fanbase and Playstation has sold around 70 million copies of the game world wide. And the newest game in the series, called Gran Turismo 6, will be released later this year, which is expected to be a huge hit. So, it seems like its perfect timing to jump on to the fast car scene if you have a property that has potential in Hollywood. Outside of the film having an action element, no word yet on what the actual plot of the film will be. Being a racing simulator, there is no actual story in the Gran Turismo series outside of modifying and racing cars, so the film's plot could potentially go in any direction. Other big fast car franchises and movies that are reving up on the big screen include of course Universal's huge Fast & Furious franchise, DreamWorks "Need for Speed" project, and Lengendary is even working on their own film adaptation of Hot Wheels. But do you all think that we've seen too many "fast car" movies? Do you think that a Gran Turismo movie will go over well with audiences? Share your thoughts down in the comments and be sure to hit us up on our Facebook and twitter pages as well. I am Erin White, for ClevverMovies. Thank you all so much for watching!
