Is Star Trek getting a Thor makeover? And is JJ Abrams thinking about leaving Star Wars? Let's start with the Star Trek update first. Bob Orci and Alex Kurtzman are responsible for bringing us the scripts for both Star Trek and Star Trek: Into Darkness, and while it seems as though they will be involved in future films, Badass Digest is reporting that they are bringing in two new writers for Star Trek 3. Ashely Edward Miller and Zack Stentx who both wrote the scripts for Thor and X-Men: First Class, are said be in final negotiations to write the upcoming Star Trek movie. Orci and Kurtzman will still be involved but apparently are supporting the Miller and Stentx addition, and we assume that these two will be getting started fairly quickly on this project if Paramount really does want part three to hit theaters in time for Star Treks 50th anniversary in 2016. And speaking of Star Trek, Trekkie director JJ Abrams was rumored to have been thinking about giving up his directing duties for the upcoming Star Wars Episode VII project. This seemed a bit sudden, but we've heard previously that Abrams wasn't necessarily thrilled with having to uproot his family and move them to London to shoot. However, thankfully, Lucasfilm released a statement clearing the air saying quote "There is no truth to the rumor. JJ is having a great time working on the script and is looking forward to going into production next year." So, hopefully we didn't lose any Star Wars fans to pre-mature meltdowns. Hang on Star Trek and Star Wars fans, because it's likely going to be a bumpy ride with crazy rumors and reports over the next year or two, but keep that browser locked right here at ClevverMovies, and we promise we will get us all safely to the finish lines. But before we let you go we have to ask you how you feel about these new Star Trek screenwriters? You know the drill.
