A man in New York City named Darius McCollum has been arrested 29 times in 30 years for various public transit related crimes, like stealing city buses or impersonating a subway employee.
His latest crime was stealing a bus from Hoboken.

When he was pulled over he said he was on his way to return the bus after driving a flight crew from their hotel to John F. Kennedy International Airport.

The history of Darius McCollum is the unique story of a man who grew up in and around public transportation systems like the subway and wanted nothing more than to get involved in the industry, but went about it in all the wrong ways.

As a boy, he worked for the NYC subway, moving trains that were out of service to be cleaned.

He first got public attention at age 15 for being caught driving the E train for six stops between 34th street and the World Trade Center.

He has admitted to stealing a dozen buses, and has been caught driving stolen public transit buses several times.

And has pled guilty to all of the crimes he has been caught for.

McCollum is currently incarcerated and has served a total of 18 years in prison. His latest sentencing has been postponed and his attorney hopes he will be sent to a long term treatment program for his Asperger’s syndrome instead.
