Who needs a Justice League movie when you get two of the biggest superheroes of all-time coming together in one film? But what exactly do we know about the upcoming Superman/Batman movie? Unless you spent the weekend spelunking, you're probably very much aware that the big announcement at Warner Bros' Comic-Con panel was that in 2015 we're going to get a heaping of the Dark Knight in our Man of Steel sequel. Director Zack Snyder revealed the new movie by bringing Man of Steel actor Harry Lennix to read some dialogue from Frank Miller's Dark Knight storyline before showing the Superman and Batman logos together. It was an exciting reveal, but didn't give us much information. So here's what we know so far. First up, Henry Cavill will return as Superman along with Man of Steel co-stars Amy Adams, Laurence Fishburne and Diane Lane. As of now, the role of Batman has not been cast and sorry to disappoint all you Christian Bale fans, but he will NOT be returning. A new actor will be taking on the iconic role. Zack Snyder will once again direct and co-write the story with Man of Steel screenwriter David S. Goyer. Christopher Nolan will still be involved, but will be an Executive Producer this time, so expect his role to be less hands-on than it was on Man of Steel. So now we know who's involved, but what will the movie be about? Though Snyder was clear to point out that the film will not be based on Miller's story that featured Batman devising a plan to take down Superman and fake his own death, the storyline is being used as inspiration, so we're thinking Supe and the Caped Crusader probably won't be BFF's right off the bat. In regards to taking on the project, Snyder said, "I'm so excited to begin working again with Henry Cavill in the world we created, and I can't wait to expand the DC Universe in this next chapter. Let's face it, it's beyond mythological to have Superman and our new Batman facing off, since they are the greatest Super Heroes in the world." Production is expected to begin sometime next year for a Summer 2015 release. As for future DC movie plans, a source close to the production told The Hollywood Reporter that Warner Bros' plan is to follow the World's Finest film with a Flash movie in 2016 that will lead to the Justice League finally being formed come 2017. So who's excited to see these powerhouses team up for the first time on screen and which actor do you think would make a good Batman? Share your thoughts below or tweet us @ClevverMovies.
