The 29th June sees the start of the 2013 Tour de France and this year marks the 100th anniversary of this iconic race. Made up of 21 stages, the tour spans the whole of France, starting in Corsica and ending up in the capital, Paris. Today we take part in our own special Tour de France as we look at the wide variety of France’s wine regions and learn about the wines they produce.
Gerard Basset will be guiding us on our tour. He is a World Champion Sommelier and is the only person to have ever simultaneously held the Master of Wine, Master Sommelier and MBA Wine honours.
Following a similar route to the Tour de France, our trip also starts in Corsica and finishes up in Paris. The wine tour takes you through most of France’s regions and covers off some 25 different wines from the more well-known such as Champagne and Bordeaux, to the lesser known such as Corsican reds and Crémant sparkling whites.
