Space travel just keeps getting more and more affordable, and yet, very few have actually experienced it.

Another company recently announced that by 2015 it will be able to take passengers into the upper reaches of the atmosphere on a big balloon.

More specifically it’s a pod held up by a big balloon.

For a relatively scant 140 thousand dollars or so, Barcelona-based Zero2Infinity can fly passengers high enough to see the curve of the earth, the sun and stars at the same time, and even throw in about 30 seconds of weightlessness.

The travel pods can accommodate four travelers and two pilots. There’s enough room inside them for people to stand up, eat a meal, and engage the optional privacy partitioning.

The largest model offers over a 160 square feet of viewing windows.

The company is busy performing test flights and procuring funding for further development. They’ve already begun to take bookings.

Thus far, only a handful of people have taken leisure trips to space. Since the space tourism option was first presented, the cost has dropped a whopping 99 percent.
