Gabriel Cordell recently arrived in West Hempstead, New York, completing a 99-day, 31 hundred-mile trip across country in his wheelchair.

He also satisfied a promise he made to himself when he was a teenager – to do something amazing by the time he was 45.

The 42-year-old actor from New York lost the use of his legs in a car accident 20 years ago.

He admits that six years of his life since then were spent immersed in a drug and alcohol habit.

Determined to make good on his adolescent declaration, not long ago he got sober and started to prepare for his journey.

Cordell and his team of 6 took off from Santa Monica in April with their sights on the West Hempstead, New York finish line.

Reports made by the team along the way are filled with stories about the generosity of the people along their path. The group was offered free shelter, food, medical attention, and even spiritual guidance.

A film detailing the extraordinary feat is in the works.
