    UK watchdog slams use of stop-and-search powers

    It is one of the most controversial tools in the arsenal of a British police officer: The ability to stop and search anyone as they go about their daily business. But in a new report, the royal body for the inspection of the police forces of England and Wales, known as the HMIC has warned that the misuse of stop and search could render the powers ineffective and damage the trust of the public in the police.
