Oh, how far thieves will go to evade police. A man in National City, California opted to cover himself in laundry detergent to throw K9 dogs off the track.

It all started after officers responded to an unrelated call concerning a robbery. While en route to the scene, cops noticed a car speeding and decided to chase the vehicle.

Well that car ended up being stolen and a high speed pursuit ensued. The driver was 31-year-old Dewitt Dingoasen.

Somewhere along the evading attempt, the suspect hopped out of the car and fled on foot. Officers set up a perimeter and used K9 dogs in an effort to catch Dingoasen.

It took about an hour, but he was found hiding in someone’s backyard under a tarp. Dingoasen was covered in fresh scented white powder.

Clearly, his tactic of confusing the dogs didn’t work. Dingoasen is considered a suspect in a string of local burglaries, but he now faces two new charges including operating a stolen car and evading police.
