We all know and love Korean rapper Psy for bringing us his global hit "Gangnam Style" and his newest single "Gentleman," but who is the man behind the outrageous dance moves, round sunglasses and pastel colored suits?! Well we did some research and we're revealing 5 things you may not know about Psy! Hey guys, thanks for keeping it right here on Clevver Music for all things music news. To start it off "Psy" is just the 35-year-old's stage name -- shocking, I know. He was born with the name Park Jae-sang. So where did the name "Psy" come into play you may ask?! "Psy" comes from the word Psycho. He explained in an interview with BBC, "...what I thought was, you know, crazy about music, dancing, performance, so that was kind of psycho." Makes perfect sense if you ask us!

Next, did you know that Psy is a family man? Yup. Psy and his wife Yoo have been married for seven years now and are the parents of 4-year-old twin daughters! He may be singing "hey sexy lady" in his hit "Gangnam Style" but I guess he's referring to his wife.

Our third fun fact about the K-Pop star is all about the music. Over here in the states Psy is known for his two hit songs ,"Gangnam Style" and "Gentleman" but he actually has six studio albums! He dropped his first studio album back in 2001 entitled "Psy from the Psycho World!" His second album "Ssa2" and third album "3 Mi" both dropped in 2002. The star then went on a 4-year hiatus not releasing his fourth album until 2006. Four years after that in 2010 he debuted his album "PsyFive". Finally, his sixth studio album "Psy6" dropped in 2012 with the hit "Gangnam Style". And did you know "Gangnam Style" refers to the Gangnam District in Seoul, South Korea where Psy grew up? Just call this your music history lesson.

Now, every artist can tell you the moment they decided they wanted to pursue a music career, and for Psy it was at age 15. Young Psy liked to watch a Korean TV program that introduced foreign pop music. In an interview he said that an episode featured the band Queen performing their 1975 hit single "Bohemian Rhapsody" and sparked his love for music. Who woulda though?!

Our fifth fun fact about Psy is that he is in the Guinness Book of World Records not one but four times! The Guinness World Record categories he holds in include, "Most Viewed Video Online," "Most 'liked' Video Online," and "First video to be viewed more than 1 billion times on YouTube" all for his "Gangnam Style" music video. His fourth entry is for "Most Viewed Video Online for 24 Hours" for his newest single "Gentleman". Well there you have it my friends, five things you probably didn't know about K-pop sensation Psy, but now you do! Which fact shocked you the most? Anything you may know about Psy that we didn't discuss—tell us! And thank you for always tuning back in to Clevver Music, I'm your host Misty Kingma, have a great day!
