Roughly $1.2 million has gone missing from a cargo container of a Swiss Air Lines aircraft. The jet landed at John F. Kennedy International Airport, but the huge amount of money was gone.
Many Hollywood movies have depicted incredibly elaborate heists. In a scene right out of a movie, roughly $1.2 million has gone missing from a cargo container of a Swiss Air Lines jet that landed at John F. Kennedy International Airport.
According to police and investigators, it didn’t appear as though the container had been damaged, implying that the cash had been swiped prior to the plane taking off for New York City.
Anytime a massive sum of cash disappears, it’s a safe bet federal authorities are hot on the case.
Port Authority officials along with the FBI are working hard on the case.
The US Treasury estimates that $1 million broken up into $100 bills weighs a little over 20 pounds. Given the weight, the alleged theft may have occurred at the original departure point.
Investigators are questioning airport staff members including mechanics and plane personnel to see if they may have gained entrance into the cargo container.
What do you think? How did the cash disappear?
