United Libations is partnering with the UL foundation to bring San Francisco its very first nonprofit bar. The plan is to sell drinks and use the gains to fund development programs in some of the world’s most needy areas.

They haven’t found a permanent space yet, but between their indiegogo funding campaign and pop-up events throughout the city they hope to come up with enough cash to settle in somewhere soon.

Their first two projects will be setting up English classes in Haiti and building a rainwater collection system in Uganda.

But first they’ll need to open the bar and that isn’t going to be cheap.

The monetary donations they’re requesting will help cover expenses like rent, glassware, simple furniture, and inventory.

They mention they’re also taking up people on offers to give their time and talent to the cause.

Once it’s up and running, the plan is to put a specified dollar amount from each libation sold to one of their project’s funding pool.

Customers get to have a refreshing beverage and take part in helping important causes all at the same time - now, that’s multitasking.
