Sheikh Tamim takes over as emir of Qatar

Qatar's new emir, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, has been preparing for his new role as the country's leader for several years.

Sheikh Tamim, who went to Britain's military academy Sandhurst, inherits the leadership of what is often marked as the world's wealthiest nation, which has interests in international politics.

"He was a great chap," says Arthur David, former commandant at Sandhurst.
