Roland Emmerich is giving us all a few more details about the cast of Independence Day 2. We recently reported to you that Will Smith probably wont be back to take the lead in Roland Emmerich's sequel, Independence Day 2, but it seems like he may not be out of the picture completely. In a sit down with Movies.com, Emmerich said that Smith would likely come with too big of a price tag, and that he was too big of a star to play the lead in ID2, but that maybe we can see him make an appearance as a cameo to quote "pass the torch." We had heard that half of the cast will be retuning for the sequel, and Emmerich confirmed that Jeff Goldblum and Bill Pullman will both be back to reprise their roles. Bill Pullman played President Whitmore, who has one of the most epic Independence Day speeches ever in the first movie. Goldblum played computer genius, David Levinson, and was one of the standouts in the first film. There are also rumors that Goldblum will be coming back to star in Jurassic Park 4, which is rumored to hit theaters some time in 2015, but we aren't sure if he will be able to pull off shooting schedules for two major blockbusters. As far as the plot of Independence Day 2, we don't know much just yet, except that Emmerich is calling it unusual and that we will likely see more aliens. Independence Day 2 will hit theaters on July 3rd, 2015.
So, are we excited to see Goldblum and Pullman back fighting aliens? And do you think Will Smith should at least make a cameo?
