Things are getting very interesting, very quickly for the The Amazing Spider-Man franchise, with Mary Jane Watson drama heating up. So, lets recap quickly. Shailene Woodley's scenes as Mary Jane Watson were recently cut out of the The Amazing Spider-Man 2, and we had heard that it was because director Marc Webb didn't feel that introducing her character would be a good fit until the third Spider-Man film which is now slatted for June 10, 2016. Just yesterday we learned that due to Woodley's busy shooting schedule with her new sci-fi project, Divergent, she may not have time to come back as Mary Jane in the third installment. However, today we are hearing that Cosmopolis and Antiviral actress Sarah Gadon, spoke with Entertainment Tonight Canada, and confirmed to them that she quote "is joining the Amazing Spider-Man franchise." Could this mean that the production team has already cast their new MJ? It's quite possible. It seems a bit fast, unless production on the third film will heat up quickly after part two hits theaters next May. However, just saying that she is joining the cast is a little vague and doesn't necessarily mean that she will play MJ. BUT, there is also the theory that maybe Marc Webb didn't feel like Woodley was right for the part once he worked with her on set, and that he decided to cast Gadon to replace her.
So, my question to you is would you like to see Sarah Gadon take on the role of Mary Jane Watson? And if not, what other characters do you think she would play in the upcoming movies?
