DEFYING CONTROL
How would you explain that a completely indpendent band - with no help from major labels, influent promoters or renown booking companies - has a résumé consisting of a Brazilian tour, an European tour, over 100 shows played in Portugal; as well as records released in Japan, Europe and USA, a video on MTV, video reports on national TV, some highlight on punkradiocast online radio station and shows with bands like No Use For a Name, Ignite and Streetlight Manifesto?
The sum of an addictive sound with catchy choruses, melodic guitars, lyrics concerning everyday life, a live show with plenty of energy and a good work capability may be a possible answer. The rising of very well-known bands like The Offspring, Green Day or Rise Against, are the living proof that melodic punk-rock has a great potential and can actually please the taste of every single person.
The band began as Defying Control in 2005, resulting from a previous project that featured some members of this band. Nowadays, after a couple of lineup changes, DC consists of Killer on bass and vocals; Francis on guitar and backup vocals; David on guitar; and Luis on drums. The band is currently promoting the last EP Time changes and also writing their next album but intents to keep playing shows all over the world.
Hence, Defying Control follows a precise path - even though bumpy sometimes - looking forward to write the next chapter of the band's story while working untiringly to make their sound reach every human being.

O som contagiante com "refrões" orelhudos, guitarras melódicas e letras
atentas à realidade em que vivemos, um espectáculo ao vivo cheio de energia
e uma enorme capacidade de trabalho, explicam o percurso dos Defying
Control. Donos de um estilo e atitude incomparáveis eles praticam punk rock,
bem ao estilo Californiano, onde o punk se influi com os desportos radicais.
Seja no betão, no ar, na neve ou no mar, Defying Control marcam presença .A
ascensão de bandas mundialmente conhecidas como os Offspring, Green Day ou
Rise Against e em Portugal dos Fonzie ou Tara Perdida, são a prova que o
punk rock carregado de melodia tem um grande potencial e capacidade de
agradar a todo o tipo de público.
A banda existe desde 2005 com o nome de Defying Control, que resulta de um
projecto de 2003 do qual alguns elementos faziam parte. É composta por
Killer na voz e no baixo, Francis na guitarra, David na guitarra, e Luís na
bateria. Neste momento, o quarteto encontra-se em Tournée por Portugal -- Vox
Trooper Tour -- e a lançar o seu novo EP Time Changes.
Assim, Defying Control segue o seu caminho, por vezes sinuoso mas sempre bem
definido, procurando escrever um novo capítulo na história da banda com o
álbum que está para vir, enquanto continua com o trabalho incansável de
fazer chegar a sua música ao maior número de pessoas possível.
