Despite mixed reviews, Man of Steel flies high, and earns the top spot in it's opening weekend the box office.

It was the biggest box office opening ever in the month of June, and even with it's so-so reviews from critics, fans just had to see what Zack Snyder's Superman was made of, and it's not Iron like I heard some kid say in the theater row next to me.The totals for Superman were quite impressive. Domestically MOS brought in almost $129 million bucks and around $71 million in it's foreign markets, bringing the overall total so far right at around $200 million bucks, which was a larger showing than many people expected, but it didn't quite hit its production budget price tag of $225 million just yet.According to THR, Man of Steel grabbed around 60% of the Father's Day weekend market, which by the way was up by 50% compared to last year's Father's Day weekend, and about 41% of audiences decided to watch Supe do his thing in 3D.While Man of Steel is a notable and exciting win for the studio, it did not surpass the success of Iron Man 3, which is by far the biggest movie of the year, which brought in over $1 billion bucks overall. This lack of MOS support may be in part due to the many negative reviews critics had of the project, but audiences spoke up against the "experts" and gave Man Of Steel an A- on CinemaScore. So, what does this mean for the future of Superman? Well according to a story in the Wall Street Journal, a Man of Steel sequel is going to get the super speed treatment, and could possibly hit theaters in 2014. According to "knowledgeable people close to the studio" Warner wants to put out a part two in record time in order to release a Justice League in 2015. And we all know what kind of box office battle it would be if a Justice League was battling between Marvel's The Avengers in 2015! I am not sure audiences could handle such epicness in one year! So, who went to see Man of Steel this weekend and loved it? And do you all think that a Superman sequel is possible for 2014?
