Police beef up their presence in the small, Northern Irish town of Enniskillen as it prepares to host a Group of Eight summit.

Over 3,500 officers have been garrisoned for the talks, which will feature a who's who of world leaders.

Hoping there won't be any trouble police are expecting 1,500 people to march through the town centre on Monday, the opening day of the summit.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) INSPECTOR ROY ROBINSON, SAYING:

"So with all of the police here should there be any trouble anticipated we are ready to deal with that, but we hope today that there will be no trouble."

Sunday offered a preview of some of those demonstrations.

The advocacy group Amnesty International called on U.S. President Barack Obama to close the Guantanamo Bay military prison.
