A team of explorers return to London today after an expedition into the depths of the remote Venezuelan rainforest in which they uncovered a delectable plant species, which will be used to create a limited edition small batch of gin.
The plant species, named ‘Scorpion Tail’ has traditionally been used in tea infusions to treat stomach complaints, but now its unique flavour and complex deep green note will provide inspiration for distilling and imbibing a very rare edition of HENDRICK’s gin.
The jungle quest saw an intrepid team negotiate the remote landscape of the Guayana Highlands of Venezuela in order to discover rare and delectable plant botanicals, with the flavours providing inspiration for distilling.
During the trip, a small portable alembic still was used to distil 8.4 litres of concentrate from the Scorpion Tail botanical, and this will now be transported to the distillery in Girvan, Scotland for work to begin. As well as having a unique flavour, the Scorpion T
