Video game franchise adaptations are becoming more popular in Hollywood. And which game is next to get the big screen, movie treatment?According to Variety it's going to be Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon, and I will give you one guess as to who is thinking about directing? Game publisher, Ubisoft, is developing the project with Warner Bros, and Ubi's CEO said that they wanted to hire Bay because quote "he is a master at action movies." Right now Bay is only involved in the development of the film, but he also may be thinking about taking on the project as director. The Ghost Recon premise is based on a US Special Forces group that serves as the President's private army. Their mission is to take down enemy threats, all the while covering their tracks leaving no evidence behind of their existence. Now, there has already been a Ghost Recon short film that was produced by Ridley Scott, which was released last year on G4, but no word yet on if any elements of that version of the story will be incorporated into Bay's version. Ghost Recon is also not the only Ubisoft property taking off in Hollywood. New Regency is co-producing Ubisoft's Assassins Creed which will star Michael Fassbender AND they're adapting Splinter Cell as well. And even Nickelodeon is getting in on the action with their own animated series based on Ubisoft's "Raving Rabbids" games.
So, I know a lot of you have opinions about video game properties making the jump to Hollywood, but which, if any, of these properties are you excited to see?
