Wild animals are known to rifle through left behind trash and that scenario can quickly unfold into an uncomfortable problem for all involved. A deer in the Florida Keys got into a potentially dangerous situation by doing just that.
The Monroe County sheriff's deputies noticed the animal while on patrol. A Doritos bag was stuck on its head.
The deer’s face was completely covered, meaning it could not see. Deputies approached the deer. Surprisingly the animal fully cooperated and waited for the police authorities to help.
Once the chip bag was removed, the animal happily took off. A police deputy, Becky Herrin stated “It must have wanted that last chip in the bottom of the bag.”
She also noted it was unlikely that someone had purposely placed the bag on the deer’s head. Herrin pointed out the importance of properly disposing of trash to avoid similar situations in the future, considering this could have become a life-threatening situation for the deer.
