STORY: Henry Cavill, Hollywood's latest actor to play Superman, said his family was very excited about the prospect of his starring in the movie, "Man of Steel".

The movie stars Cavill as Superman and Russell Crowe as his father, Jor-El.

This isn't the first experience Cavill had meeting Crowe. They first met when Cavill was working as an extra on Crowe's movie "Proof of Life".

Cavill told Leno he and the other extras in the film were in awe of Crowe but he took the initiative to walk up to him, introduce himself and tell him he wanted to become an actor. The introduction paid off, when Crowe sent him a few gifts as encouragement.

"Two days later I got an Aussie rugby jersey, some vegemite, some Aussie candy, a Band cd and a picture of him in "Gladiator" saying 'Dear Henry, a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step.'," Cavill said.

The Superman movie also stars Kevin Costner as Jonathan Kent and Amy Ad
