Hurricane hits southern Ukraine

One person was killed and two injured after a hurricane hit the city of Odessa, southern Ukraine on Friday (May 31) night.

According to Ukraine's Emergencies Ministry some 3,000 trees were damaged by the hurricane, many blocking streets and damaging cars. Some buildings suffered minor damage.

Odessa residents were clearing debris off the streets and removing the fallen trees on Saturday (June 1) morning.

Ukrainian government pledged to provide the region affected by the hurricane with all the necessary help, local media reported.
