Sant Joan Despí (Barcelona), May 31 (EFE).- F.C. Barcelona captain Carles Puyol confessed at a press conference on Friday that he had played the whole season with knee problems that got so bad that at one point he thought about turning down Barcelona's offer to renew his contract and retire from football, but added that he was feeling much better after the operation he underwent in March.
He spoke at Barcelona's sports complex whilst accompanied by the team's other captains, Xavi Hernandez, Andres Iniesta and Victor Valdes. The defender hadn't given a press conference since 19 February and claimed that he was already feeling pain in his right knee before the season began and months after he had undergone an arthroscopy.
