U.N. report says countries must do more for disabled children

Sixteen year old Nguyen Phuong Anh was born with Osteogenesis - a genetic disorder which causes fragile bones.

But it's her voice that has gained her national recognition after she auditioned for the popular 'Vietnam's got Talent' TV show.

The student, who gave herself the nickname 'Crystal', often struggles to move around on her own, but is determined to prove she can be a success.

(SOUNDBITE) (English) SIXTEEN YEAR OLD STUDENT NGUYEN PHUONG ANH, ALSO KNOWN AS CRYSTAL:

"It's ok being vulnerable physically. So that's why I'm proud to call myself Crystal, because I want people to see me as a girl who is vulnerable physically but can be hard to break mentally at the same time."

But Crystal's story is the exception, not the rule.

An annual report from the United Nations Children's Fund, or UNICEF, says children with disabilities are some of the world's most marginalised people.
