Crane Operator Causes Power Outage in One Third of Country

A crane operator causes a power outage in Vietnam.
Power outages are typically caused by extreme weather. In one bizarre report, however, a crane operator was responsible for the misery of residents in Vietnam.
More than a third of the dwellers in the country were without electricity for several hours after a construction worker accidentally knocked over a tree onto a main power line.
The crane worker received a minor electrical shock following the incident. Southern Vietnam residents were left in traffic jams as roadway lights failed. Many schools were forced to dismiss classes early.
Thankfully after about 2 hours of chaos, local authorities were able to restore power.
Last summer, a grid failure brought much of Northern India to a halt. The outage affected over 350 million people across seven states - making it India's worst electricity loss in years.
Transportation was the hardest hit - over 300 trains could not operate in the affected states leading to scores of stranded commuters and more widespread traffic delays on roads.
