A former French president reveals he was previously attacked by a panda.
Panda bears are unbelievably adorable, but evidently they can be quite ferocious at times.
The former French president, Valery Giscard d'Estaing recently revealed a little secret. He claimed to have once hopped into a panda’s cage to test his courage while visiting a zoo in Paris.
That decision didn’t turn out to be a wise one. The animal reportedly pounced on him, requiring workers' help in subduing the creature.
A spokesperson at Edinburgh Zoo shed some light on the mammal stating “Although not particularly aggressive by nature, pandas do have this potential and are very territorial animals.”
The now 87-year-old Giscard d'Estaing’s story about the incident sparked laughter among his audience.
Other than at zoos around the world, pandas are normally found in the bamboo-filled forests of China.
They can reach anywhere from four to six feet in length and can weigh up to 250 pounds.
Have you ever seen a panda?
