There is more news coming from Hollywood today about the fate of Quicksilver, and we're bringing you all the deets. Just yesterday Bryan Singer sent out a surprising congratulatory tweet to actor Evan Peters for landing the role of Quicksilver in X-Men Days of Future Past, just weeks after Joss Whedon announced that we would also be seeing the Quicksilver character in The Avengers 2. We all know that Marvel and Fox both share the rights to use the character, and this news left many fans to wonder if we could actually see the same type of Quicksilver character in both movies? Well, a trusted source at HitFix is saying that it's very unlikely, and that the studios are actually not playing nice about this behind the scenes. They are reporting that Fox and Marvel are not interested in working together, in fact, that if either studio could get the other to not use the character they would fight for that. However, due to both story lines, the directors and writers feel that each movie needs Quicksilver to perform different roles, and it's merely coincidence that it's playing out the way that it has. Even though many feel like Fox is trying to steal away some of Marvels thunder. Here are the rules the studios have to follow: Marvel is not allowed to refer to Quicksilver as a "mutant" and they are also not allowed to even reference his father, Magneto, at all. And Fox isn't allowed to make any references to The Avengers team, period. And Borys Kit, from The Hollywood Reporter, did some research and found out that Fox can use the names Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch, but that Marvel will have to use their real names, Pietro and Wanda. But which studio has the upper hand on creating the best version of Quicksilver, well I guess it depends on who you ask. One might argue that Bryan Singer is playing dirty, putting himself in a better position to get the attention first, since X-Men comes out July 18th, 2014 which is almost a year before Whedon's The Avengers 2. But maybe you could argue that Whedon is in a better position because he will have plenty of time after XMen hits theaters to change and alter The Avengers' Quicksilver to make him even better than Singers. But what do you think? Is Bryan Singer in the wrong here? Or do you like the fact that the studios are competing to give us the best versions of these characters? Or are you one of the people that are shocked that there is such a controversy on such a small character to begin with? Thoughts and comments are always welcomed here, so leave those for us down in the comments section, and make sure you Friday Favorite us @ClevverMovies too. Thanks so much for watching us here.
