Truck strike may have caused Washington state bridge collapse, officials says
  • 11 years ago
Officials say that a truck may have triggered the collapse of a part of a bridge that sent vehicles and drivers tumbling into a frigid river in Washington state.

State officials say a semi-truck driven southbound struck the bridge just before part of it collapsed.

Two of the three people rescued from the river were hospitalized with hypothermia, but no one has died.

The freeway is a principal corridor for vehicles between Canada and Washington State.

Investigators are talking to the driver and inspecting the truck.
