Weve just learned via Deadline, that Dreamworks has walked away from Southpaw, a boxing film helmed by Antoine Fuqua and starring Eminem, written by Sons of Anarchy creator Kurt Sutter. It's unknown why Dreamworks walked away from the film, especially with all the successes of other boxing and MMA films as of recent. However, the script, director, and star remain bundled together, so who knows what studio will approach the flick next. Eminem was attached to star as the welterweight boxer who fights his way to the top, only to see his world come crashing down due to a major tragedy...sound a bit like 8 mile? Well Sutter shared that he was inspired by Ems real life struggles hence the story line, and the star. Do you guys think Southpaw has THE FIGHTER potential and that another studio with pick up the film? Let us know by commenting below and stay right here on clevver movies for more updates on Southpaw!
