Since breaking through the music scene with 'Let Go', Avril Lavigne has sold a reported 30 million albums. Her last album, 'The Best Damn Thing', was released four years ago and she launched her brand of clothing line and perfumes. But now she returns to the medium of her original success. 'Goodbye Lullaby' begins with the tender 'Black Star', a short piano track full of optimism. It is followed by lead single 'What The Hell', a track that has infectious energy, as it resembles her previous hit 'Girlfriend'. Thankfully 'Push' is an immediate improvement, an electro-acoustic mid-tempo anthem on the tribulations of making a relationship work. Following 'Wish You Were Here' is 'Smile' which has an uplifting chorus. It kind of looses momentum, but picks back up again. Some fans are saying 'Darlin'' and 'Goodbye' are not so good attempts to show off a vocal scale that Lavigne has understandably never been recognized for. After a promising start, 'Goodbye Lullaby' turns out to be liked by most critics. But if you're asking me..... well..... Lets just say I LOVE Canadians!
