'Starship Troopers' Reboot To Be Less Violent details coming your way!

Director Paul Verhoeven was the king of violent sci-fi back in the 80's bringing us such classics as RoboCop, Total Recall and Starship Troopers. All of these are set to be rebooted, with a new Total Recall starring Colin Farrell to hit theaters come August and RoboCop planned to follow a year later. The Starship Troopers reboot is planned for sometime in 2014, but not much has been revealed thus far. Thanks to a recent interview with Empire, we are getting some hints on what to expect when the film hits theaters thanks to producer Toby Jaffe.

Jaffe revealed that unlike Verhoeven's 1997 version, the film will take a page from the Total Recall reboot and follow more closely wth the original novel. He also revealed that we should expect far less violence in the reboot touting studios desire to reach a much broader audience. He said, "The more expensive a film is, the harder it is now to make it that violent----With Recall in particular, we made a conscious choice to keep it tonally closer to something like Minority Report. It gives the studio, and us as producers, the opportunity to reintroduce it in a new way."

We may be getting less violence in the reboot, but thanks to improvements in visual-effects over the past 15 years Jaffe did promise we'd see much more futuristic hardware in the reboot, including the armoured Jump Suits featured in Robert Heinlein's novel.

So its sounding like we will be seeing less violence, but a whole lot more action come 2014----but what do you guys think? Will this ruin the film for you? Are you more of an action seeker or do you like a little gritt and violence in a film like this??
