Captain America and Downton Abbey fans probably don't have a lot in common, but it looks like one of the hit series' cast members has emerged as the frontrunner to star as Steve Rogers latest love interest in Captain America: The Winter Soldier.

We previously reported that actresses Imogen Poots, Emelia Clarke, Theresa Palmer, Alison Brie and Jessica Brown Findlay were in the running to take on the role of leading lady to Chris Evan's Captain America in the upcoming sequel, which is thought to be that of S.H.I.E.L.D. agent Sharon Carter, niece to Cap's original love interest Peggy Carter. Now, according to UK's Daily Express, Downton Abbey star Jessica Brown Findlay has emerged as the frontrunner for the role. Findlay has gained fans on both sides of the pond with her role as the youngest Crawley sister on the critically acclaimed series that recently had its third season debut in the UK. Fans in the US will have to wait until January for the new season.

Of course, we have to take this news with a grain of salt as the Daily Express doesn't give any source and mentions the other actresses on the short list are all still in the running. Findlay does bear a striking resemblance to Hayley Atwell, who played Peggy in the original film. Many fans have wanted to see Atwell take on the role of Sharon as well in the sequel, but that looks unlikely to happen. Captain Amercia: The Winter Soldier is scheduled to begin filming in March for an April 4th, 2014 release.

So do you think Findlay would be the perfect love interest for Steve Rogers or is there another actresses who would be a better fit? Give us your casting pick below of tweet us @ClevverMovies. I'm Aja Dang in Hollywood, thanks for watching!
