The train kept rolling last night at the 2012 Soul Train Awards in Las Vegas! Happy Monday everyone, welcome back to ClevverMusic. Cedric the Entertainer hosted the 25th Annual Soul Train Awards last night on BET and Centric, broadcast from Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas. The show which honors soul, R&B, and hip-hop artists, saw a special tribute to Don Cornelius and New Edition at the show, along with some special performances. Here are your 2012 Soul Train Award highlights.

Cedric the Entertainer opened the show with a medley of songs featuring Anthony Hamilton, Leah LaBelle, Fantasia, and Charlie Wilson helping him out. This year's show was all about honoring the late Soul Train founder Don Cornelius and reiterated his hand in bringing hip-hop alive. His son Tony Cornelius paid his respects in a touching speech and throughout the show vignettes of old broadcasts were shown in Don's honor.

Notable performances of the night included Ne-Yo performing "Let Me Love You" in sexy white trench coat and broke down mid-song for steamy dance number. John Legend performed sensual "Tonight (Best You Ever Had)" song of course sitting at the piano but later got up to the crowd's applause. Tank, Ginuwine, and Tyrese unite as the supergroup TGT and brought a soul medley featuring "Stay," "If You're Lonely," and "Zoom" to life.

Top winners of the night included Beyoncé, winning "Best R&B/ Soul Female Artist" and "Best Dance Performance" for "Love On Top". "Song of the Year" went to Tyrese for "Stay" and "Best Hip-Hop Song of the Year" went to Kanye West for "Mercy".

The legendary band New Edition won the Lifetime Achievement Award to celebrate their 30 years of greatness and followed their acceptance with a high energy performance of their hits, "Candy Girl", "Telephone Man", and "If It Isn't Love". The boys reminded us why we loved them in the first place and proved they've still got it with those classic dance moves.

At the end of the show, Jamie Foxx gave a speech to shout out to Aaliyah, Don Cornelius, and quote "our Lord and Savior" Barack Obama. An old video of Don himself introduced "The 8th Wonder of the World" singer Stevie Wonder who performed "Superstition" and "Signed, Sealed, Delivered". Stevie's performance closed the show in a double tribute to Don and Barack Obama while images of the President flashed behind him. For a full list of the winners, just see the video description!
