Donegal, in the North West of Ireland is where we see a mother and her daughter harvest rhubarb and make jam. In the making of this jam, we see how children can learn to make their own food. You will hear the family speak some simple Irish words and phrases. The family's home is in the Gaeltacht - an Irish-speaking region of Ireland.
Visual artists Wyllie O Hagan are inspired by the beauty of the Irish lakes. The Wild Swans at Coole, a poem by William Butler Yeats comes to mind when the beautiful and mysterious birds appear. The swans were filmed on a lake in Sligo in the North West of Ireland, near to where the poet lived. In this short digital film O Hagan demonstrates how to print a poem, and what motivates her to do such a thing. Music by harpist: Eve McTeleen Recording live by Wyllie O Hagan in Ireland
A digital mixed media work by artists Wyllie O Hagan describing their experiences of St Patrick's Day. As a youngster, growing up on the border between the North and the South of Ireland, O Hagan would go to Carricklee Races on St Patrick's Day. The annual horse race was cancelled in the early 70's because of "The Troubles". There was little to celebrate for a long time. St Patrick's Day is now a global event, and is heavily sponsored by the global drinks industry. Artists Wyllie O Hagan aim to celebrate St Patrick's Day online in a creative way, and welcomes those who share that goal. Happy St Patrick's Day:)
