Springnet 633 - Formula One China party in Austin Texas
The Austin Grand Prix put on a great F1 China watch party at the Lavaca Street Bar in Austin today. Kerri Olsen did an outstanding job of organizing this with her brother Kevin Olsen I got to hang out with some nice folks, Scooter and Heather, who were big fans of the F1 racing scene (they took a trip to Spain to see an F1 race one time). — with Kerri Olsen at Lavaca Street Bar.

Springnet 632 - Texas Spring Football game
Austin, TX, April 1, 2012 - Texas Spring Football Game - The Spring game was on a fine Spring day at Darrell Royal Memorial Stadium in Austin. Ricky Williams got his statue. Fozzy Whittaker got a punt return trophy. And David Ash seemed destined to be the 2012 QB. Case McCoy didn't really step up like he did in last years Spring Game, throwing a couple of interceptions, but we still hold out hope that Case can team up with Jaxon Shipley for some exciting games next Fall. It looks like a good team that can build on last years comeback from the dead season.

Fozzy Whittaker signs autographs, including my hat, at the April 1, 2012 Texas Spring Football game. Fozzy was an incredible sparkplug on the 2011 team and made two amazing back to back 100 yard kickoff returns in the OK State game.

Springnet 629 - Texas Spring Football Game
Texas played their orange vs white intrasquad practice game on April 1st, 2012 and starting QB still looked good even though we still hold out hope for Case McCoy, who also saw playing time but tossed a few interceptions. Ash took better care of the rock. Ricky Williams got a statue and Fozzy Whittacker got a trophy for his last years punt returns. Receivers Jaxon Shipley and DeSean Hales looked good as did senior running back Jeremy Hills.

The Texas Longhorns held their 2012 spring football game April 1 at 2 pm CST. The highlight the day was the dedication of the new Ricky Williams statue in honor of the Heisman Trophy winner and star of "Run Ricky Run".The quarterback showdown between David Ash and Case McCoy rages on with Ash getting 6 snaps and there was a lot of great pass offense from both.

The Texas Longhorns held their 2012 spring game on a hot Sunday day in April and I had a front row seat at the 50 yard line.David Ash played the opening two drives with the first team and tossed the rock 6 times and handed it off to Malcolm Brown and Joe Bergeron a few times. Ash also ran in to the endzone after an offensive lineman stepped on him.Case McCoy got a lot more snaps but threw a couple of interceptions so the QB two headed monster may live yet another day. Fozzy Whittaker came over and signed my Horns hat and got a national award for punt returns. Ricky Williams got aq statue (see my video on this).

A couple of years back I worked on some B roll video of Ricky Williams for Sean Pamphilon who was an ESPN contractor on the "Run Ricky Run" documentary and I got to talk to Ricky about his life after the NFL and about coming back to Austin to study for a Psych Doctorate degree. The team arrives at Royal Memorial Stadium and begins warming up for the 2012 season. David Ash and Case McCoy, Texas QBs, looked good and Jaxon Shipley looked great both passing and catching. The running backs are strong. Ricky Williams and Fozzy Whittaker both got honored at the game, Ricky with a statue and Foz with a trophy for his two hundred yard run backs last season. Hookem, baby.
