After a report by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) that most airlines are unsafe, Civil Aviation Minister Ajit Singh has said that ministry will not have any tolerance for airlines that violate safety norms. "There are some concerns about safety and there is not going to be any compromise on that. That's DGCA's job, they continuously monitor and pull up those airlines where they see there could be a problem," said Mr Singh.

UP polls: After poll panel's order, draping of Mayawati's statues begins official
A day after the Election Commission (EC) ordered the covering of statues of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati and her party symbol, the elephant, draping has begun on the structures in various parts of the state. The EC's order is part of the model code of conduct that is in place after dates for the upcoming assembly polls were announced in December last year. Elections in UP are slated to begin on February 4 and will, over seven phases, wrap up on February 28.
Congress plays down Mamata's threat of 'feel free to leave alliance' official
With strained ties between the Congress and the Trinamool out in the open, West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee hit out at the Congress today saying, she has always worked alone and the Congress is free to leave the alliance. However, the Congress downplayed the alleged row, saying these things happen in a coalition. "These things happen in a coalition. Disagreements happen but we should not be overaggressive. The issues are resolved through talks," said Congress spokesperson Abhishek Manu Singhvi.
